"The History of Mankind is carried on the back of the Horse"
US Army bred horse that competed in the sport of Eventing. She was ridden by Captain Earl F. Thomson in two Olympics, 1932 in Los Angeles an 1936 in Berlin. They won the individual silver medal at both Olympics as well as team gold at the 1932 games.
A horse that held official rank in the military. She served in numerous combat actions during the Korean War carrying supplies, ammunition and evacuating wounded. Learning each route quickly she often traveled to deliver supplies to troops on her own without a handler. During one 5 day period she made 51 solo trips to resupply the front line. She was wounded twice and received 2 purple hearts.
FRANK THE GETTYSBURG WAR HORSE
A veteran of the Civil War, he was assigned to Issac R. Swartout private of Battery D of the 1st NY Artillery. Frank first saw action at Gettysburg on July 1st 1863. He participated in 14 more battles all the way to the surrender of Lee at Appomattox Court House April 9th 1865. He was purchased by Isaac after the war and remained with him the rest of his life.
